I just thought it might be helpful to have a thread on this subject which future visitors with an interest in this area can refer to.

So, if you were starting a business and needed to borrow some money, how would you go about looking for investors? Does the approach depend on the nature of the business and/or the amount you wish to borrow, or should it always - in principle - be the same regardless of the sum?

I am starting a clothing line (logowear) and am looking for SMALL investments. Most angel networkst etc...are looking minimum 100k. Thats nowhere near what I am looking for. 10k is more like what we need. All we need to do is get the screens made and buy the first run. Then this will help establish the line. I have some potential sponsorships already in place. 2 professional wakeboarders, 1 race team in the ALMS series (Daytona Prototype), a pro football recruit, a POSSIBLE skateboarding sponsorship in the works with a new fresh young talent on the pro circuit, as well as a female snowboarder ( with other avenues to the male boarders). EDIT: I also just got off the phone with an acquaintence of mine in CA. We may be able to get the product in a group of surf shops along the coast! YEAh

I live in Santa Cruz, CA, a big surf community and home of Oneil's Surf Shops. You may want to check with them. They've many connections to the sport as well as the industry, as you may already know.
